Trichtillomania, (or hyper trichtillomania) is sometimes referred to as trich: and involves the compulsive and recurrent pulling of hair.
The source of the compulsion can be many things, and most have to do with some sense of anxiety or desire for control. Many people who experience trich pull hair without realizing it, making the behavior hard to change or redirect.
While stylists aren't certified therapists and doctors, there are ways we can help support you if you experience trichtillomania.
In the salon, we're able to help disguise pull sites with partial or full coverage hair systems. These systems have a hyper-realistic scalp and are fully customized to match whatever hairline, color, texture, and pull sites an individual may have.
The first step is to be honest and set aside any shame or negative feelings you might have about your pulling, and book a consultation. We will always approach your hair loss with kindness, an open heart, and a listening ear. Learn more about our nonsurgical hair replacement options here.
